As a published author and women’s empowerment coach I’ve been writing and blogging on my blog, “The Juicy Woman” since 2005. Some of the topics I covered were non-diet weight loss, embracing aging, health at every size, relationships, body confidence, and stress management. For several years I’ve participated in Paul Taubman’s Ultimate Blog Challenge. The writing prompt for today is to share how we got started in our niche.

Why My Chosen Niche Is Women’s empowerment Coaching

Back in 2004 when I first became certified as a professional coach, I was instantly drawn to the prospect of giving women tools to manage their stress so they could tap into being more confident and assertive. It was a natural progression that unfolded for me after years of having no confidence, being in a self-imposed cocoon, spending decades feeling powerless, intimidated, and exploited in one abusive environment after another. One day after I learned EFT: a stress relief technique that changed my life, I finally had the courage and audacity to speak out, step up and get myself free.

For the many years I felt like a victim, I used to be filled with self-loathing and disgust. I could never imagine being kind to myself, having
self-respect, or expecting others to treat me with dignity. It took me years to learn how to change my perspective from poor, poor me to powerful woman.

Transformation Comes From Seeing Your Negative Experiences Through Empowered Eyes

I credit my personal transformation to my training as a coach and Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming and Ericksonian Hypnosis. By learning how to see myself and my experiences from a fresh, empowered and self-compassionate perspective I gained a new respect and appreciation for myself. I discovered the power of communication and learned how to set boundaries with others. Now I see all of my toughest times and biggest challenges as my rarest gems. They have made me who I am.

In 2013 I published my first book, “Lovin’ the Skin You’re In: The Juicy Woman’s Guide to Making Peace with Food and Friends with Your Body” teaching women the value of making their self-care a priority. As The Juicy Woman, I was a confidence coach; a thought leader and a powerful voice in the body acceptance movement.

In 2016 I faced empty nester depression and a variety of other family emergencies. It felt like a good time to step away from coaching. I started taking on clients and doing virtual assistant work. It was fun and easy making money working with authors and coaches helping to design and market their products.

As I have matured in my life and work, I see that true confidence comes from cultivating resilience and developing an ability to rise above challenges.

Fear of Eviction and Need for Rent Assistance Moved Me to Seek Out Grants

In 2020 the agency that was my biggest client lost all of their new business. In one fell swoop my entire income was wiped out. Suddenly my husband, Angel and I couldn’t pay our rent and bills. At the recommendation of a friend, I started to research grants. Since then I have gotten over $45K in grants and helped others to get over $31K in grants.

My first research stop was to go to YouTube and there I found videos from Matthew Lesko whose books I used to purchase in the 90’s. Matthew is a 5 time New York Times best selling author and he has been in the business of helping people to get grants for over 50 years. I began to binge watch Matthew’s videos and followed his guidance.

After successfully getting my first $2850 worth of grants, I wanted to thank Matthew personally. He agreed to do a Zoom chat with me and he’s been a tremendous source of support and wisdom ever since.  He encouraged me to start a Facebook group to teach other people about how to get grants. And I was so moved by his faith in me that I set it up that evening. That marked the beginning of My Facebook group Grants Made Easy with Andrea Amador.

Thanks to Matthew and his videos, I have now learned how to get government assistance in every area of my life. In my book, “Grants Made Easy” and in my Grants Made Easy program, I’ve just scratched the surface of talking about the benefits available through the government. With his 50+ years of expertise in grant work, Matthew is the hands down expert on the subject. He has graciously uploaded hundreds of videos on YouTube for you to learn about how to solve every financial problem you have with the government’s help.

After my husband, Angel passed away, I’ve been working to rebuild my business and reimagine my life. I recently finished my current book,
“Grants Made Easy: Get Money for Yourself, Your Family & Your Business.” In my work with grants coaching, I’m passionate about empowering men and women who are small business owners teaching them how to get grants for financial relief.

As I look back in retrospect I realize how my experience as a confidence coach laid the foundation for me to pursue teaching people about grants. For nearly 20 years I’ve been writing, coaching and talking about topics that are taboo and uncomfortable. Most people shy away from discussing topics that are uncomfortable. It’s easier to hide and feel ashamed. Through my years of blogging, speaking and writing about sensitive topics in full transparency, I have developed an extraordinary ability to listen without judgment, empathize, and be compassionate while still inspiring and educating my clients to move through their challenges. And best of all, because I’ve walked in my client’s footsteps and been in the weeds myself, that makes me a perfect coach to teach people how to use grants for financial relief.
